Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England, and as such it is popular and can be very busy. Nonetheless, it is a great day out, and well worth the effort.
We usually begin the walk at Seathwaite in Borrowdale, which is in our opinion, the most satisfying route. We can however, start at Wasdale Head. We ascend to Syhead Tarn, where we pick up the Corridor Route to Lingmell Col. We then have a short steep climb before we reach the summit plateau, and the gradient eases for the short walk to the summit itself. We descend to Esk Hause, and follow the Grains Gill path back to Seathwaite.
